Visit Kenji Sushi
Diners ask for the chawanmushi by name, and more than one has called it the best they have eaten. It comes as part of an omakase that Chef Kenji runs single-handed from behind the counter, plating each course in front of you and talking you through where the fish and ingredients come from as he goes.
What makes Kenji Sushi special
The tasting menu turns with the season and is built on the best produce of the week and well-aged fish, so what arrives depends on what is good that day. A typical run moves through sashimi, that chawanmushi, a set of nigiri and a uni-and-ikura rice bowl before dessert. It is a small counter, so the experience is close-up and personal, as much a lesson in Japanese cooking as a meal.
